This is a fun and easy way to add a little personality to any room. I've put this makeshift blackboard in the guest room, and plan to use it to write personal welcome notes whenever we have a guest. In the mean time, I've decorated it with an inspirational and intellectual quote.

Tack board or hard surface
Chalkboard paint
Paintbrush
Acrylic paint (for the boarder)
Chalk
